The Restrepo Award

The Restrepo Award, established by Harvard University’s Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, recognizes exemplary journalism on human rights issues. Named after photojournalist Tim Hetherington and journalist Chris Hondros, who both lost their lives while reporting in conflict zones, the award honors courageous reporting that sheds light on human rights abuses and injustices worldwide. It aims to encourage journalists to continue uncovering stories that can inspire awareness, accountability, and positive change, emphasizing the importance of independent, impactful journalism in addressing global human rights challenges.
