The Restoration Movement
The Restoration Movement is a Christian effort that began in the early 19th century to unify believers by returning to the practices and teachings of the early church as described in the Bible. Its goal is to promote unity among Christians by emphasizing the authority of scripture, baptism by immersion, and a focus on Jesus Christ’s teachings. Rather than creating new denominations, members seek to “restore” what they see as the original church, encouraging independent churches that share common beliefs but are autonomous. This movement has influenced many Christian groups, especially those calling themselves Churches of Christ, Christian Churches, and Disciples of Christ.
