The Reichswehr

The Reichswehr was the name for the German military from 1919 until 1935, established after World War I as part of the Treaty of Versailles. This treaty limited Germany's military size and capabilities to prevent future wars. The Reichswehr consisted of a small army and was composed of professional soldiers, focusing on defense. However, during its existence, there were efforts to secretly expand and develop new military technologies. In 1935, the Reichswehr was restructured and became part of the larger Wehrmacht as Germany began to rearm and prepare for World War II under Adolf Hitler's regime.
