The Red Army Faction

The Red Army Faction (RAF) was a West German revolutionary group active from the 1970s to the 1990s. They believed in overthrowing capitalism and the German government through violent means, including bombings, assassinations, and kidnappings. Influenced by Marxist and revolutionary ideologies, their actions aimed to protest social injustices and U.S. military presence in Germany. Their activities led to numerous deaths and injuries, creating fear and controversy. Over time, the group weakened due to arrests and internal disagreements, and formally disbanded in the early 1990s. The RAF remains a significant example of domestic terrorism during the Cold War era.
