The "Readymade" concept
The "Readymade" is an art concept where everyday objects, like a urinal or a bicycle wheel, are transformed into art simply by selecting and presenting them differently. Coined by artist Marcel Duchamp, it challenges traditional ideas of art by arguing that the artist’s choice and context give meaning, rather than craftsmanship. Essentially, it blurs the line between ordinary objects and artistic creation, inviting viewers to see familiar items in a new perspective and question notions of aesthetics, originality, and the role of the artist.
