The Rajputana States

The Rajputana States, now largely in modern Rajasthan, were a group of princely regions ruled by Rajput kings before India's independence in 1947. These states maintained their own rulers, customs, and armies, but were under the suzerainty of the British Crown. Known for their valor, martial tradition, and distinctive culture, they played a significant role in Indian history. After independence, most of these states merged to form the state of Rajasthan, creating a unified region while preserving their rich heritage.
