The Rainbow
A rainbow is a natural optical phenomenon caused by light from the Sun interacting with water droplets in the atmosphere. When sunlight enters a water droplet, it bends (refracts), reflects off the inside surface, and then exits, bending again. This process separates the light into its various colors—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet—creating a circular arc of colors in the sky. The specific angles at which light refracts and reflects inside the droplets produce the visible spectrum, resulting in the beautiful, multicolored display we see as a rainbow.
