The Pullman Company
The Pullman Company was a U.S. manufacturer best known for producing luxury sleeping cars for trains, making long-distance travel more comfortable. Founded in 1867 by George Pullman, the company also supplied other railway cars and a unique approach to corporate town planning by creating Pullman, Illinois, as a model community for workers. It played a major role in the growth of the railroad industry and the development of rail travel in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Although it declined after World War II, its innovations significantly impacted transportation and urban planning.
