The Progressive Movement

The Progressive Movement was a social and political effort in the early 20th century aimed at addressing problems caused by industrialization, urbanization, and corruption. Progressives sought to reform government practices, promote social justice, improve working conditions, reduce corruption, and expand democracy—such as through reforms like women's suffrage and antitrust laws. They believed that government should play a active role in creating a fairer society and solving issues caused by rapid economic growth, ultimately leading to a more equitable and accountable society.
