The Principal Upanishads
The Principal Upanishads are a group of ancient Indian texts that explore the nature of reality, consciousness, and the self. They are philosophical reflections on the ultimate truth, called Brahman, and how individual souls, or Atman, relate to it. These writings highlight that true knowledge comes from inner experience and spiritual insight, rather than external rituals. They form the core teachings of Vedanta, a major school of Indian philosophy, and aim to guide individuals toward self-awareness, unity with all existence, and liberation (moksha). Their insights continue to influence spiritual thought and practice in India and beyond.
