The Press Complaints Commission (PCC) was a self-regulatory organization in the UK that managed complaints about newspapers and magazines. Its role was to promote responsible journalism by addressing reader concerns about issues such as privacy, inaccuracies, or intrusion. The PCC did not have legal power but aimed to encourage the press to adhere to professional standards through voluntary codes of conduct. It handled complaints, encouraged corrections, and sometimes mediated disputes. In 2014, the PCC was replaced by the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO), which now oversees press regulation in the UK.
