The Press Complaints Commission
The Press Complaints Commission (PCC) was a self-regulatory organization in the UK that managed complaints about newspapers and magazines. It aimed to uphold standards of journalism, promote responsible reporting, and provide a process for the public to raise concerns about privacy, accuracy, or fairness. The PCC did not have the power to impose fines or sanctions; instead, it issued judgments, encouraged corrections, and mediated disputes. It operated from 1991 until 2014, when it was replaced by the Independent Respect Regulator (IPSO) to enhance accountability and oversight in the press industry.
