The Pleiades

The Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters, is a nearby open star cluster in the constellation Taurus. It contains hundreds of stars, but only a few are visible to the naked eye. The cluster is about 440 light-years from Earth and is one of the closest star clusters to us. Its bright, blue-tinted stars are young and still surrounded by remnants of the gas and dust from which they formed. The Pleiades are easily visible in the night sky during late autumn and winter in the Northern Hemisphere and serve as a key marker for astronomers and stargazers alike.
