The Plan of San Luis
The Plan of San Luis was a political statement made in 1910 by Francisco Madero, calling for an uprising against Mexican dictator Porfirio Díaz. It declared Díaz’s presidency illegitimate and announced reforms to restore democracy, including the cancellation of fraudulent elections, land redistribution, and political reforms. Madero urged Mexicans to rise up and support the revolution. The plan served as a rallying point, encouraging widespread revolt, and marked the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. It was a strategic document aiming to unify various revolutionary groups under a common cause to end Díaz’s long dictatorship and establish a more democratic government.
