The Pick and Roll
The pick and roll is a common basketball play where one player (usually a big man) sets a screen, or "pick," on a defender guarding their teammate. After setting the pick, the player then moves toward the basket ("rolls") to receive a pass and attempt to score. This technique creates space and confusion among defenders, often leading to easier scoring chances either by the player rolling to the hoop or the teammate who used the screen. It’s a strategic move to free up teammates and generate open shots or scoring opportunities.
