The Perception of Color

The perception of color results from the way our eyes and brain interpret light. When light hits an object, it reflects certain wavelengths, which our eyes detect with specialized cells called cones. Different cones respond to different wavelengths—red, green, and blue. The brain processes these signals to create the experience of color.
