The Pattern Language

A Pattern Language is a system of design principles that describe effective solutions to common problems in building and urban environments. Developed by Christopher Alexander and his team, it uses interconnected, recurring patterns—such as creating welcoming entrances or connecting shared gardens—that help make spaces more functional, comfortable, and harmonious. Think of it as a guidebook that shows how small, well-thought-out design choices can combine to improve the overall quality of places where people live, work, and gather, fostering better communities and environments.
