The Paris Accord
The Paris Accord is an international agreement adopted in 2015 where countries commit to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions to combat climate change. The goal is to limit global temperature rise this century well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, ideally to 1.5°C. Each country sets its own targets, called nationally determined contributions (NDCs), and works to improve them over time. The accord encourages global cooperation, transparency, and accountability to protect the environment, promote sustainable development, and mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change on communities and ecosystems worldwide.
