The Paradox of Democracy
The paradox of democracy refers to the idea that while democracy aims to empower the majority and promote equality, it can also lead to challenges like tyranny of the majority, where the rights of minority groups may be overlooked. Additionally, it assumes citizens are informed and rational voters, but in practice, misinformation and biases can influence decisions. This creates a tension between individual freedoms, collective decision-making, and the potential for majority rule to undermine minority rights or lead to unstable outcomes. Essentially, democracy balancing fairness and stability is inherently complex and sometimes paradoxical.
