The Palaiologos dynasty

The Palaiologos dynasty was the ruling family of the Byzantine Empire from 1261 until its fall in 1453. They restored some stability after a period of decline, but faced increasing threats from the Ottoman Turks and internal struggles. The Palaiologos rulers worked to defend and preserve Byzantium's traditions and territory, but ultimately the empire was conquered, marking the end of the Byzantine era and the medieval Orthodox Christian world.
