The Oxford Martyrs

The Oxford Martyrs were three Anglican bishops—John Hooper, Ridley, and Latimer—who were executed in Oxford in 1555 during Queen Mary I’s reign. They opposed her efforts to restore Catholicism in England and remained faithful to Protestant beliefs. Their deaths symbolized religious resistance and conviction, making them martyrs for the Reformation movement. Today, they are remembered for their steadfastness and are considered important figures in the history of religious freedom and the development of the Church of England.
