The OSS (Office of Strategic Services)
The Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was the United States’ wartime intelligence agency during World War II, functioning from 1942 to 1945. It collected and analyzed information, conducted covert operations, and supported resistance movements in enemy-occupied territories. Often considered the predecessor to the CIA, the OSS played a crucial role in gathering intelligence, sabotage, and psychological warfare. Its work helped shape modern U.S. intelligence efforts, providing critical insights and operational support that contributed to Allied victory.
