The Orpheus myth

The Orpheus myth tells of a talented musician whose enchanting music can calm and move all living things. His wife, Eurydice, dies from a snakebite, leading Orpheus to descend into the Underworld to retrieve her. His music moves Hades and Persephone, allowing him to briefly bring Eurydice back to the surface on the condition he does not look back at her until they are fully above ground. Unfortunately, overwhelmed with doubt, he looks back too soon, and she is lost to him forever. The myth explores themes of love, trust, and the power of art.
