The Object Relations School

The Object Relations School is a psychological approach that explores how early relationships, especially with caregivers, shape our inner world and influence our feelings, thoughts, and behaviors later in life. It emphasizes that our subconscious mental images of these relationships—called "objects"—form the foundation for how we relate to others and ourselves. If early bonds are positive, we tend to have healthier relationships; if they are troubled, it can lead to difficulties. This approach helps understand personality development and therapeutic change by focusing on these internalized relationship patterns.
