The Nucleus

The nucleus is like the control center of a cell, similar to a brain within a person. It contains the cell's genetic material, DNA, which holds instructions for building and maintaining the cell. The nucleus regulates activities such as growth, metabolism, and reproduction by controlling which genes are active. It is surrounded by a double-layer membrane called the nuclear envelope, which controls access to the DNA. Inside, the nucleus also contains the nucleolus, which assembles ribosomes—crucial for protein production. Overall, the nucleus plays a vital role in managing the cell’s functions and passing on genetic information.
