The New Anti-Semitism

The New Anti-Semitism refers to modern forms of prejudice and discrimination against Jewish people that often blend traditional anti-Semitic beliefs with critiques of Israel’s government and policies. Unlike past hatred rooted solely in ethnicity or religion, this form can manifest in accusations that Jewish individuals or institutions wield disproportionate global influence or that Israel’s actions are representative of all Jews. It can be disguised as political criticism but may cross into harmful stereotypes or delegitimization of Israel’s right to exist. This evolution makes anti-Semitism harder to identify and combat, requiring awareness of its subtle and complex expressions.
