The Nature of Sound
Sound is a type of energy caused by vibrations that travel through a medium like air, water, or solid materials. When an object vibrates, it creates waves that move outward, causing particles in the surrounding medium to oscillate. These vibrations are interpreted by our ears as sound. The characteristics of sound—such as pitch, loudness, and tone—depend on the frequency, amplitude, and nature of these vibrations. Essentially, sound is the auditory manifestation of mechanical waves transmitting energy through a medium, allowing us to perceive and interpret the environment around us.
