The Nature of Light

Light is a form of energy that travels through space in tiny particles called photons and behaves both as a wave and a particle. It enables us to see by carrying information from objects to our eyes. Light moves at a constant speed—about 299,792 kilometers per second—allowing it to quickly convey details about colors, shapes, and textures. Its properties, like reflection, refraction, and diffraction, explain phenomena such as rainbows and lenses. Understanding light helps us grasp how we perceive the world, develop technologies like cameras and lasers, and explore the universe beyond our planet.
