The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities

The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) is a part of the U.S. government’s National Institutes of Health. Its main goal is to improve health outcomes for racial and ethnic minorities and other underserved groups. NIMHD supports research, training, and policies to understand and reduce health disparities—differences in health status caused by social, economic, and environmental factors. By identifying barriers and promoting equitable healthcare, NIMHD aims to ensure all populations have access to quality health services and can achieve better health and well-being.
