The Nathaniel Branden Institute (NBI)
The Nathaniel Branden Institute (NBI) was founded in the 1960s by philosopher and psychologist Nathaniel Branden to promote his ideas about self-esteem and individual psychology. It served as a platform for lectures, courses, and writings that emphasized the importance of self-awareness, personal responsibility, and rational thinking in achieving a fulfilled and autonomous life. NBI aimed to popularize Objectivism, the philosophy developed by Ayn Rand, focusing on rational self-interest as a moral ideal. While influential in certain intellectual circles, it was also controversial, especially due to Branden's personal and professional conflicts with Rand.
