The Mycenaean World
The Mycenaean world was a powerful Bronze Age civilization in Greece around 1600-1100 BCE, known for their impressive palaces, advanced art, and extensive trade networks. They developed complex social and political structures, with kings ruling from fortified centers. The Mycenaeans were also skilled warriors, evidenced by their weaponry and fortifications. Their writing, called Linear B, was used mainly for record-keeping. They played a key role in early Greek culture, influencing later Greek mythology and society. Ultimately, their civilization declined around 1100 BCE, leading to a period of cultural transition known as the Greek Dark Ages.
