The Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy

Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy (also known as Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another) is a psychological condition where a caregiver, often a parent, deliberately causes or fabricates illness in someone under their care, usually a child, to gain attention, sympathy, or a sense of importance. The caregiver manipulates medical tests or symptoms to appear as a devoted protector. This behavior is harmful and can lead to unnecessary treatments or interventions. It is considered a form of abuse and requires psychological intervention to protect the victim and address the caregiver’s underlying issues.
