the motor cortex

The motor cortex is a part of the brain located at the front of the brain's outer layer. It is responsible for planning, controlling, and executing voluntary movements, such as walking, writing, or lifting objects. When you decide to move, the motor cortex sends signals through nerve pathways to muscles, telling them how to move. Different areas of the motor cortex control different parts of the body. It works closely with other brain regions to coordinate smooth, purposeful movements and adapt to new motions or tasks.
