The Modified Rankin Scale

The Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) is a tool used by healthcare professionals to measure the level of disability or dependence in daily activities following a stroke or other neurological conditions. It rates from 0 to 6: 0 means no symptoms, while 6 indicates death. Scores in between reflect increasing levels of difficulty, such as slight symptoms, moderate disability requiring some help, or severe disability needing full assistance. The mRS helps doctors evaluate recovery progress and treatment outcomes, providing a standardized way to assess how much someone’s abilities have been affected by their condition.
