The Mexican Drug War

The Mexican Drug War is a conflict that began in 2006 between the Mexican government and drug cartels. It started when President Felipe Calderón deployed the military to combat powerful criminal groups involved in drug trafficking and related violence. Over the years, the war has led to widespread violence, including thousands of deaths, as cartels fight for control of drug routes and territory. Corruption, poverty, and weak law enforcement complicate the situation. While the government's efforts aim to reduce drug-related crime, the conflict has resulted in significant humanitarian and social issues in Mexico.
