The Mary Rose

The Mary Rose was an English warship built in the 16th century, specifically commissioned by King Henry VIII. Launched in 1511, it served in naval battles until it sank off the coast of Portsmouth in 1545 during a conflict with the French. The ship was raised from the seabed in 1982 and has since become an important archaeological find. The Mary Rose provides valuable insights into Tudor naval warfare, shipbuilding, and daily life in that era. Today, it is displayed in a museum, showcasing artifacts recovered from the wreck, which help us understand maritime history.
