The Malvinas War (Falklands War)

The Malvinas War, also known as the Falklands War, occurred in 1982 between Argentina and the United Kingdom over the disputed Falkland Islands, located in the South Atlantic. Argentina claimed the islands, which it calls Las Malvinas, based on historical ties, while the UK administered them since 1833. Tensions escalated when Argentina invaded the islands in April 1982. Britain responded by sending a naval task force, leading to a ten-week conflict. Ultimately, British forces regained control of the islands, resulting in around 650 Argentine and 255 British military deaths. The war impacted both nations and their relations significantly.
