The Maliki School
The Maliki School is a major Islamic legal tradition within Sunni Islam, founded by Imam Malik ibn Anas in the 8th century. It emphasizes the Quran, Hadith (sayings of the Prophet), and the consensus of the community (especially the people of Medina, where Malik lived) as primary sources of law. The school is known for its flexibility in considering local customs and practices when interpreting Islamic law. Predominantly followed in North and West Africa, as well as parts of the Arab world, it aims to balance religious principles with societal realities in everyday life.
