The Maharaja of Mysore

The Maharaja of Mysore was the ruler of the princely state of Mysore in India before independence. As a monarch, he held significant authority over his territory, overseeing its administration, economy, and culture. Known for modernizing policies, cultural patronage, and development projects, the Maharaja played a key role in shaping Mysore’s growth. Although the region was part of British India, the Maharaja retained sovereignty in internal affairs until India’s independence in 1947, after which Mysore integrated into the Indian Union. The title reflects historical royal authority and regional identity, and the lineage continues as a symbol of cultural heritage.
