
The Loving Kindness Meditation
Loving-kindness meditation, also known as Metta, is a practice where you intentionally generate feelings of goodwill, compassion, and friendliness towards yourself and others. Typically, you sit quietly and repeat phrases like “May I be happy, may I be safe,” gradually extending these wishes to loved ones, acquaintances, and even difficult people. The goal is to cultivate an open heart, reduce negative emotions, and foster a sense of connection and kindness. Regular practice enhances emotional resilience and promotes a more compassionate outlook toward yourself and the world.
