The Lost-Wax Method
The Lost-Wax Method is a traditional technique for creating detailed metal sculptures. It starts with an artist shaping a model, often in wax. This wax model is covered with a ceramic shell to form a mold. Once the ceramic hardens, the mold is heated, melting and draining out the wax, leaving a hollow cavity. Molten metal is then poured into this cavity to create the final sculpture. After cooling, the ceramic mold is broken away, revealing the metal piece, which is then cleaned and finished. This method allows for intricate details and precise craftsmanship.
