The London Docklands Development Corporation

The London Docklands Development Corporation (LDDC) was a body established in 1981 to regenerate and revitalize the former commercial docklands area in East London. Its goal was to attract investment, develop housing, improve infrastructure, and create jobs, transforming the area from decayed docks into a thriving business and residential district. The LDDC had authority over planning and development, helping to coordinate large-scale projects and modernize the area. Its efforts contributed significantly to the economic growth and urban renewal of East London, laying the groundwork for the modern Docklands and Canary Wharf.
