the Lombroso theory
Lombroso’s theory, developed in the late 19th century, suggested that criminal behavior is inherited and linked to physical traits. He believed that certain biological features, such as facial structure or skull shape, could indicate a person’s propensity for crime. Lombroso thought that some individuals were "born criminals" with these hereditary traits, differentiating them from non-criminals. While influential historically, the theory is now considered outdated and overly simplistic, as modern research emphasizes complex social, psychological, and environmental factors in understanding criminal behavior.
