The Little Bighorn

The Battle of Little Bighorn, also called Custer’s Last Stand, took place in 1876 in Montana. It was a clash between the U.S. Army and a coalition of Native American tribes, primarily Lakota Sioux and Cheyenne, resisting forced relocation. Led by Chief Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, the Native Americans outnumbered and outflanked Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer's forces, resulting in a significant victory for the tribes. The battle symbolized Native resistance to U.S. expansion and highlighted tensions over land rights. Despite their victory, it ultimately led to increased military efforts to suppress Native tribes.
