The Life of Sir Thomas More

Sir Thomas More was a renowned English lawyer, scholar, and statesman in the 16th century. He served as Lord Chancellor under King Henry VIII and was renowned for his intellect and moral integrity. More is best known for writing "Utopia," a book imagining an ideal society. He famously opposed the king's break from the Catholic Church, especially the annulment of his marriage. Because of his refusal to accept the king’s new policies, More was imprisoned and ultimately executed in 1535. He is considered a martyr and was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church for his principles and conscience.
