The Lemon Project

The Lemon Project is an initiative at the College of William & Mary aimed at addressing and acknowledging the university’s historical involvement with slavery and racial injustice. It seeks to uncover, preserve, and share stories of enslaved people connected to the college and its alumni, promoting understanding and reconciliation. The project also works to educate the campus community about this history and foster dialogue around race, equity, and social justice, ultimately promoting healing and progress through transparency and scholarship.
