The League of Nations Covenant
The League of Nations Covenant was the foundational treaty establishing the League, an international organization created after World War I to promote peace and prevent future conflicts. It outlined member countries’ commitments to resolve disputes peacefully, respect each other's sovereignty, and collaborate on security issues. The Covenant emphasized collective security, meaning members would work together to address aggression or threats to peace. While it aimed to promote cooperation and prevent war, its effectiveness depended on the willingness of nations to adhere, and it lacked strong enforcement mechanisms, which contributed to its eventual replacement by the United Nations after World War II.
