The Law of War

The Law of War, also known as International Humanitarian Law, regulates how armed conflicts are conducted. It aims to protect people who are not participating in the fighting, such as civilians, and to limit the means and methods of warfare. This body of law includes treaties like the Geneva Conventions, which set rules for the treatment of wounded soldiers and prisoners of war. Additionally, it prohibits certain weapons and ensures that military actions are proportional and necessary. The overarching goal is to maintain humanity in the midst of conflict and to mitigate the suffering caused by war.
