The Language of Thought Hypothesis

The Language of Thought Hypothesis suggests that the mind has a kind of internal language, called "mental representations," which it uses to think, reason, and understand the world. Just as language uses words and symbols to communicate, the brain uses these mental symbols to process information internally. This internal "language" allows us to think abstractly, solve problems, and communicate ideas, providing a structured way for mental processes to occur systematically. It proposes that thought itself is like a language with its own syntax and semantics, enabling complex cognition.
