The Lady Jane Grey
Lady Jane Grey was an English noblewoman who briefly became queen in 1553, reigning for just nine days. She was highly educated and politically influenced by her father and advisors who aimed to keep England Protestant during Queen Mary I’s Catholic reign. When Queen Edward VI died, they declared Jane as successor, bypassing Mary, but Queen Mary quickly claimed the throne. Jane was imprisoned and later executed at age 16. Her short reign is often seen as a tragic example of political intrigue and the volatile nature of succession during Tudor England.
